CHICAGO, May 26, 2010 — Alpha Psi Lambda-National, Inc. opposes Arizona Senate Bill
1070. The Bill, also known as Supporting Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act,
was recently signed by Governor Jan Brewer and is scheduled to go into effect on July 28,
2010, ninety days after the legislative session ends.
Alpha Psi Lambda was founded on the basis of advocating for the needs and concerns of
Latino students, the Latino community, and the promoting of Latino cultures. We believe that
Senate Bill 1070 goes against the purposes of our fraternity and although it is not stated
explicitly, its implementation will promote racial profiling and discrimination.

Alpha Psi Lambda-National, Inc., was founded in 1985 at The Ohio State University as a coed,
Latino-interest fraternity by 13 Noble Men and Women. The purpose of Alpha Psi Lambda
is to promote education, culture, and unity through leadership and community service. The
fraternity has expanded to include 21 collegiate chapters in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and Florida and one Alumni Chapter in Chicago, Illinois. Alpha Psi Lambda is a member of
NALFO, the National Association for Latino Fraternal Organizations.
